Salem joined IHG Group in 1997 and climbed his way to General Manager Position. He, then joined Royal Private Affairs in 2015 and upheld the position of Managing Director – Royal Palaces (Consultant and Head of Travel Committee).
In his current role as Managing Director of Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel & Swissotel Al Maqam, Accor Makkah Hotels, Salem oversees the strategies, day-to-day operations, including management of the Hotel’s Executive Teams, 5,000 Keys and more than 2,500 hotel employees.

Salem’s professional reputation is self-evident and speaks about itself. A resilient result-oriented leader and being one of the most influential characters in the hospitality sector who has left his mark on the previous roles. In 2021, he joined as the Managing Director of the iconic Makkah Clock Royal Tower in the heart of holy city of Makkah comprising of four internationally chained five-star hotels Fairmont Makkah, Raffles Makkah Palace, Swissotel Makkah & Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah.
In his current role, Salem oversees the strategies, day-to-day operations including management of the Hotel’s Executive Teams, 5,000 Keys and more than 1,800 hotel employees.

Salem introduced & applied an entirely novel methodology to the complex which ultimately surpassed the financial performance and changed the dynamics of one of the most complicated markets. Salem’s Ability to design a new working environment by creating self-motivated Matrixes in order to keep monitoring performance, targets, development and achievements in a gigantic complex led to position the 04 hotels as leaders in Makkah and label as the beacon of hotels in all the international markets.
Exceeding forecasted budgets, attracting talents, enhancing products, creating funnels and developing careers for talented colleagues created a proprietorship atmosphere which specifically reflected on the guest experience scores and led to high brand reputation on all platforms.

It is also worth mentioning that despite of huge work load, Salem continued his learnings and received his Masters of Business Administration in Hospitality from EHL (The Ecole hotelier de Lausanne – Hospitality Management School in Switzerland). Besides, he is also a board member in some of the leading corporations in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia that are playing a vital role in most of the ongoing prestigious projects in the kingdom.
